Lawrence, KS - Starfire HQ - The IT Strategy Lab event hosted by Starfire Technologies and held at Johnson County Community College was an overwhelming success. Nearly 100 attendees were able to gather information about the latest in virtualization technologies and learn how they will impact their IT infrastructure. Twelve of Starfire Technologies' vendor partners provided presentations and hands-on demonstrations of technologies used to create a virtualized environment. Many attendees who have been running virtualized environments for years were able to come away with ideas to improve the operation of their IT environment. "Our goal was to show the additional enhancements that can be done to an environment after basic server consolidation and virtualization has been completed," said Andrew Norton-Mitchell of Starfire Technologies. "Server virtualization provides so many benefits that it is easy to forget that there are other bits of infrastructure that can be virtualized such as the desktop or storage. The IT Strategy Lab was designed to show how to take the virtualization concept to the next level." The October IT Strategy Lab was Starfire Technologies first event of this nature. Another IT Strategy Lab is being scheduled for mid-Spring of 2009. The topic is yet to be determined. Smaller issue focused events will be hosted late this fall or just after the new year.
